This accession consists of operational records created and/or maintained by the Manitoba Regional Office of the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs between 1981-1989. Subjects covered by these operational files include but are not limited to the following: Economic Development, Social Development, Environmental Protection, Income Support, and Budget and Decision (B and D) records. The files are arranged according to the department's current subject block numeric system; the B and D records are organized by band number and therein chronologically by year (1988-1989) and include almost all bands from Brokenhead (261) to Indian Birch (324).
The Budget and Decision (B and D) records, transferred under authority 88/003, consist primarily of information written on pre-printed forms which presumably were entered into some kind of automated system. This hardcopy record is very routine, and does not significantly add to an understanding of the programs, services and related activities of Indian and Northern Affairs. This archivist recommends that they should be identified for destruction in a new authority.
