In film entitled "There Is Still Time", British author and ecologist, Lady Jackson Barbara Ward ties the issues of "Habitat" to one of Canada's oldest settlements, Quebec City. In this setting she examines some of the problems and solutions affecting the living conditions of urban communities: purity of air and water; well-planned land use conserving agricultural resource and preserving community life. Historical continuity and sense of human scale in buildings are some of the main social and ecological factors considered. Detrimental to the healthy development of human settlements are high-rise buildings and, above all, the land-hungry air-polluting automobile. Black and white footage taken 20 years ago contrasts with this modern portrait of Quebec City. <30mn>Language:EnglishOriginal number:61-2-2107-6045-CDetailed holdings information: -
