The drought and hardships of the "dirty thirties", as they were known, are recalled by George Sheppard, a Saskatchewan farmer; Abe Kanee, miller; Ed Russenholt, a Winnipeg conservationist and Dr. Moe Pearce, physician. Vintage film of the period illustrates their reminiscences of dust storms, drought and grasshoppers; the prices fetched by wheat and cattle; the "black blizzards" which shifted entire farms from one place to another; the sharing of resources and accepting with dignity gifts of food from the East; the "Bennett Buggies" and "Anderson Carts". Ed Reid drives a 1916 McLaughlan belonging to Western Development Museum, Saskatoon. <30mn>
