The sub-series consists of the records of Celafi 1997, a week-long festival and conference celebrating the work of African Canadian artists entering the new millennium. In general, the material includes programmes, proposals, overviews, schedules, information kits, artists' resumes, biographies, agreements, artists' submissions, financial reports, marketing plans, sponsorship correspondence, budgets and funding consultant reports, conference proceedings and panel discussion transcripts, promotional material, printed posters, programme brochures, and publicity clippings. Included is documentation on the Dance Programme, including correspondence with artistic director Vivine Scarlett and contributors Donald Carr and Lorna Reddick; the Film and Video Programme, including correspondence with Idera Films and Video and Cinematheque Ontario; the Literature Programme, documenting a tribute to Austin Clarke; the Music Programme, including material on the Beat Factory, Island Soul and Jongleur Productions; panels; the photography exhibitions; the `Revue Noire' project, relating to CAN:BAIA's special edition of the French art journal; and the Theatre Programme, including submissions from Andrew Moodie, Bernadette Dyer and George Elliott Clarke.

General note:

Ten letters received in electronic form were printed at the NA using WordPerfect and the paper copies were added to the 'Correspondence - Glace Lawrence' file in container 14. The electronic copies were not retained.
