Norman, who was born near Low, remembers being told of the militia being sent from Ottawa to put down a rebellion when the Irish farmers near Low refused to pay their taxes. He also talks about other Irish families who settled in the Irish "enclave" near Low, in particular, the Haydens, Hays, Kerns, Baileys and Murrays. Also discussed are the local superstitions that have centered on Brennan's Hill. Other topics included in the interview are: Mahoney's work in the Valley lumber camps as a teamster; Richard Dale, the healer of Eganville; and the history of the Ryans, Kathleen's family from the Mont Ste.
