Fonds consists of photographs depicting various aspects of the Quebec Conferences held in Quebec City, Quebec September 1944. Photographs by the National Film Board of Canada.

Also included in fonds is a sound recording documenting Thelma Cartright's interview of William Jennings on the program CBC Matinée, broadcast and recorded by CBC on 7 May 1969. Jennings speaks of his work in households of English aristocrats such as the Duke of Devonshire.

Jennings, William, 1888-1973 : William Jennings was born 31 December 1888 in the City of Westminster, London, England to Jacob Jennings of Southminster, Essex and Lydia Theedom. He had four sisters named Lily, Edith, Alice, and Ada. At the age of 14 he left school and began his career as an office boy for Hempson and Son, Solicitors in London. In 1904 he entered the service to Earl of Powys as a Steward's Room Boy. In 1905 he became Third Footman for the Marquis of Salisbury in Hertfordshire. His next appointment came in 1907 as Equal Footman of Four with Sir Ernest Cassell at Park Lane and Newmarket. Between 1908 and 1913 Jennings worked for several more employers as First Footman for the Duke of Leeds, Saloon Steward on the P.N.O. Ship Mooltan, Smoke Room Steward, and First Footman. In 1913 he became Butler to Sir Philip Sassoon, acting in this position for 19 years. In addition, he served with the Grenadier Guards between 1914 and 1918. In December 1915 Jennings married Maud Beatrice Ward. Together they had one child, Muriel Theedom Jennings, born at Fulham on 16 October 1920. In 1934 Jennings became Butler to the Duke of Wellington. Thereafter, he joined the Duke of Kent, acting as Butler from 1935 to 1942. In 1942 Jennings became House Steward at Government House, Ottawa, working for the Earl of Athlone and Princess Alice for four years. Between 1943 and 1944 Jennings was also in charge of all domestic arrangements for both Quebec Conferences which were held in Quebec City, Quebec. In 1947 he became Manager of the Parliamentary Restaurant. He took up duties at the Public Archives of Canada in 1954. Maud Jennings died in 1964. Jennings retired in 1967. He died 23 September 1973 in Ottawa, Ontario. Photography, Acquisition and Research Collection File.
