Sub-series consists of interviews with leading public servants who had served in the Department of Fisheries compiled by J.C. Stevenson, editor of the Journal, Fisheries Research Board of Canada, Fisheries and Marine Services, Environment Canada. There are typed transcripts produced from the original tape recordings. They contain information on all aspects of the scientific and administrative development of fisheries at the federal level in Canada.

Sub-series also consists of oral history interviews conducted by Ken Johnstone with senior members of the Fisheries Research Board of Canada about their careers with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans. The interviews were conducted as research for Johnstone's book entitled "The Aquatic Explorers: A History of the Fisheries Research Board of Canada", published in 1977. There are transcripts of the aforementioned interviews. Please note that interviews may exist only as sound recording, may exist only as written transcript, or may exist in both formats.
