Sub-series consists of records relating mainly to the organization of the National Congress of Sport by a group of individuals from the provinces, all of whom were involved in sports. They contain the minutes of the Steering Committee meetings, and correspondence with hotels, convention centres, and tourist bureaux of several Canadian cities considered as sites for the proposed Congress. There is no formal organization to the records; file numbers were assigned by the archivist during processing.

National Congress of Sport (Canada) : The National Congress of Sport was established in late 1979 in order to develop a "Sports Plan for Canada" for the 1980s and act as a liaison between the sports community and the Minister of State for Fitness and Amateur Sport. With the fall of the minority Progressive Conservative government in February 1980, the Congress was terminated.
