Series consists of interviews with Thomas Bata, Sonja Bata, Thomas G. Bata and Jiri Sedlacek about the life and career of Thomas Bata. These interviews were made during research for Sinclair's book Bata : shoemaker to the world. Bata discusses the growth of the Bata Shoe Company in some detail. We hear about the establishment of the company in Asia, South America, Europe and Canada. We learn about Bata's business philosophy, company culture, managerial style and expansion plans. Bata also discussees economic set-backs in the shoe industry, competition from Asia and what the company did to overcome these problems. He also defends the company practice of doing business in countries with neo-facisit regimes stating that government come and go while the need of people for gainful employment remains.
