The accession originally included 208 comic book publications which were transferred to the Special Collections area of the National Library. The comic books document a variety of styles and the development of the industry in Canada. Issues date from the mid-1940s to the autobiographical works of the 1990s. Early editions include such titles as Freelance, Dizzy Don and Scooter Comics; later publications include the long-running Cerebus series, Elflord, Yummy Fir and "normalman".
