Series consists of files that document non-CCU unions (Confederation of Canadian Unions) and other labour federations in Canada, and the CCU's relations with those organizations. Major topics include: inquiries regarding affiliation with the CCU; co-operation and solidarity actions in support of Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) and other non-CCU unions; contacts with CCU sympathizers in various national and international unions; participation in joint labour conferences and committees; and monitoring developments in rival US-based international unions, including movements within these unions for Canadian autonomy.

Records include briefs, reports, organizing and strike literature, collective agreements, convention documents, constitutions, correspondence, print matter, and other material. The files are arranged alphabetically by name of the labour organization, with a small number of general files situated at the beginning of the series. The sound recordings contain Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) coverage of the 1982 Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) convention.
