Series consists of records that document labour education and seminars organized and delivered by or for the Confederation of Canadian Unions (CCU), its provincial councils, and its affiliated unions, as well as general aspects of labour education. The courses and seminars concerned topics including: occupational health and safety; training for stewards and officers; collective bargaining; union publications and communications; harassment; free trade; and the Quality of Worklife and Lean Production programmes (introduced by management in the 1980s and 1990s) and union strategies for resistance to such programmes; and courses of general nature. Records include course outlines, instructional materials, manuals, agenda, reports, essays, correspondence, print matter, and other material.

Series includes: the draft text of proposed book on Kent Rowley (1991); "An Informed Membership Will Strengthen Democracy and Defeat Domination," a leaflet by the Trades and Labor Congress of Canada concerning relations with the American Federation of Labor (1949); and video sessions presented at the first CCU labour school in Cape Breton (probably 1983) and "Who Wants Unions?" (a National Film Board documentary).

Some of the research and resource files were evidently first created by John Lang as a university student, and carried over to the CCU for use in the education programme.

The files are organized into two groups: specific schools and seminars (in chronological order by the date of the school or seminar) and, general files not pertaining to a specific school or seminar (in alphabetical order).
