Etching depicting the former United States of America embassy building in Ottawa, Ontario, designed by famed American architect Cass Gilbert in 1930. The building is situated directly opposite the Parliament Buildings. The work is by Frederick Bourchier Taylor (1906-1987). The embassy was given to the Canadian government upon completion of a new U.S. embassy site on Sussex Drive, in Ottawa, in 1999. Plans to remodel the building to house the Portrait Gallery of Canada, under the auspices of Library and Archives Canada, are on hold pending review.
