Fonds consists of photographs taken between 1924 and 1942. Photos depict Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) aircraft, personnel, and activities at No. 8 Royal Canadian Depot, Stevenson Field, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Fonds also includes a short film depicting activities at No. 8 Repair Depot, Winnipeg, August 1942. Footage depicts vintage military aircraft, aircraft repairs, and military parades. Produced by Albert Oliver Adams.

Biography/Administrative history:

Adams, A. Oliver : Albert Oliver Adams, Canadian, served in the First World War as a pilot with the RFC/RAF. He also served in WWII as officer in charge, Aeronautical Inspection District, Commanding Officer of a Repair Depot, and as Director of Repair and Maintenance and Director of Aeronautical Engineering at Royal Canadian Air Force Headquarters. While in command of No.8 Repair Depot, Winnipeg, he completed a treatise on control and administration of service Repair Depots. In a letter dated 1 June 1942, Adams was commended by British authorities for valuable services as a conference evolving common standards of airworthiness for the Empire. For this accomplishment he was awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1948. Upon his retirement in 1952, Adams received the Queen's Coronation Medal. Thereafter, Adams resided in Ottawa, Ontario.
