Photographs mounted on green cards. Photographs of mines, miners, and mining operations across Canada from the mid-1940s to the early 1970s.. The photographs are 8 x 10 prints mounted on green card, bearing information on the subject content of the photograph, the mine name, company name, date, location, and photographer's name. They are numbered 1-3004; the series appears to be complete; there is no perceptible order or organization in this series, but a Kwiksort finding aid exists to assist in searches. Snapshots mounted on green cards. Photographs of mines, miners, and mining operations across Canada from about 1910 to the mid 1930s. These photographs appear have come from a wide variety of sources, and include numerous snapshots, copy prints, and small photographs generally mounted several per card. They bear caption information, which generally includes place and mine names, dates, and types of mineral being exploited. While the photographs carry identification numbers, there does not appear to be a related finding aid; in their current arrangement, the photographs are in no perceptible order or sequence..
Albums of photographs relating to activities of the Mines Branch. Photographs of participants of the Chinese Mining and Metallurgical Mission to Canada. Photographs not used in making the National Film Board filmstrip "Mines and Metals in the Making", 1953. A partial album of British Columbia mines, and a meeting of mineralogists in Mexico, 1949-1950. "Dominion-Provincial Mining Roads 1936-1939", apparently exclusively in British Columbia, showing roads, road construction and use, and general terrain. Photographs apparently by geologists of the Geological Survey of Canada. All photographs are captioned.
Loose photographs Photographs from a wide variety of sources, including the Geological Survey, individual mining companies, and individuals, covering mines, mining, mining equipment, etc. across Canada, from the late 1890s to the mid-1970s.
Transparencies 35mm colour slides, some identified, primarily concerned with Canadian mining facilities in Ontario,. Quebec and British Columbia, from 1954 to the early 1960s. There are some views of refining and smelting operations..
The card mounted photographs can be transferred directly; the loose photogrpahs should be sleeved where necessary so they are not damaged..
