This series consists of records of Frontier College's Beat the Street Program which fought illiteracy in the inner city among the homeless and street people. It includes correspondence with Board members, program coordinators and representatives of various organisations; agendas and minutes of coordinators' monthly meetings; daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports; local and national publicity files; and job descriptions and postings. General correspondence files hold interoffice memoranda between Toronto program co-ordinators Tracy LeQuere, Roxanne Cook, Ruth Burton, and Rick Parsons; Donna Beadle of the Regina Office; and Rae Beckman and Ruby Brass from the Winnipeg Office. They also include correspondence with Program Director Miria Ioannou, National Program Manager Bruce Kappel and President Jack Pearpoint. Relations with various organisations and government agencies such as the Covenant House of Toronto, the Ministry of Correctional Services, the Kermode Friendship Society, the Ontario Public Health Association, Ministry of Skills Development, and the Manitoba Metis Federation Inc. are documented in this series. Letters from the Alberta Criminal Justice Association and the Georgian College of Applied Arts and Technology requesting speaking engagements from Rick Parsons and Tracy LeQuere are found in the organisational files. Included in the report files are incident, student and budget reports as well as student and program evaluations. There are also several files on the progress of individual learners enrolled in the program. In addition there are publicity files holding articles from newspapers like the Winnipeg Free Press and Globe and Mail.
