This series consists of records of the Board of Governors of Frontier College . It includes minutes, agendas and memoranda from committees and annual meetings; reports, research and publicity of programs; as well as correspondence between board members and with various representatives of government agencies and non-governmental institutions. The workings of the Board of Governors and Frontier College's internal committees like the communications, executive, finance, investment, nominating, pension and program committees are documented by minutes and records of various Board members and presidents Ian Morrison, Jack Pearpoint and John Daniel O'Leary. The files of annual meetings hold invitation and reply lists, location information, agendas, conference kits, texts of speeches, reports and nominations for the Fellow of Frontier College Award. The series also contains research, reports and publicity relating to programs such as Read Canada and HELP. Reports include statistical updates, attendance records of individual students, financial needs, and critical suggestions for future endeavours. Scattered throughout the program files are publicity articles from magazines such as The Northern Miner and Canadian Living, and newspapers such as The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star and The Vancouver Sun. In addition there are monthly financial reports, insurance and operational reports, annual strategic planning reports, as well as yearly updates of the college directory.
A large portion of this series is correspondence with government agencies and non-governmental organisations. The correspondence includes letters to and from Governor-General Jules Leger, Premier David Peterson, various ministers of education, and representatives of the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs. Some businesses and NGOs represented are the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, Canadian Labour Congress, Canada Packers Limited, the Coalition on Employment Equity for Persons with Disabilities, Freedom Farm, the Trillium Foundation, Sedgwick Tornernson Associates, and Burt, Burt, Wolfe and Bowan. Other correspondence includes letters by professors from Simon Fraser University, Algonquin College, University of Calgary and McGill University. At the end of the series there are personal files of many Board members from the late 1970s to the late 1990s. Within these files there is general correspondence consisting of letters and memoranda to staff, and in some cases, biographical material. In addition, there is a sub-series of records relating to sustaining members.
