Fonds consists of sound recordings including interviews with Ugandan Asians about their expulsion from Uganda in 1972, and their immigration to Canada, interviewed by Carleton University School of Journalism students, 1974. Also included are interviews conducted for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) Oral History Project and the Dunton Memorial Project, 1980-1989. Interviewers include Ross Eaman and students with the CBC Oral History Project. Interviewees include CBC employees and former employees; CBC reporters Patrick Brown, Hal Jones, Jean-François Lepine, Peter Mansbridge, Ann Medina, and Joe Schlesinger, CBC administrators Doug Ward and Neil Morrison, and various others connected with journalism in Canada, including Wilfred Kesterton, Carleton University School of Journalism professor. Also interviewed are Charles Gunning, Don J. Macdonald, and V. Frank Segee, editors with the CBC News Service, and Barry MacDonald, a former CBC announcer and corporate official in Ottawa. In addition, sound recordings include a French language interview of Claude Sylvestre by Jean-Paul Moreau, with recorded excerpts of Marcel Ouimet, 1981.

Also included in fonds are moving images documenting off-air recordings of newscasts from 20 May 1977 including Le Telejournal, The national, Les Nouvelles TVA, the CTV national news, and commercials; documentary productions created by third and fourth-year journalism students at the Carleton University School of Journalism, 1985-1986; lectures by scientists who participated in the seven-part weekly forum entitled Global change: the challenge of the 1990s, presented by Carleton University's Faculty of Science, 1988; and four newscasts in a special presentation of the Soviet program Vremya, with English translation by Carleton University. The programs show highlights of the visit of Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev to Canada and the United States, 1990.

Fonds also includes graphic images arranged in a separate series entitled Carleton University and University of Ottawa Poster Collection.

Carleton University : Carleton University was established as a college in 1942 by the Ottawa Association for the Advancement of Learning. Until 1945 courses were taught in the evenings only in rented classrooms. In 1946 the college moved to its first permanent building, the former Ottawa Teacher's College. Carleton University is a non-sectarian, co-educational institution of higher learning in Ottawa, the seat of Carleton County from which it took its name. In addition to day and evening courses during the autumn and winter, the university has a day and evening summer-school program. There are faculties of arts (both humanities and social science), science, engineering, and a faculty of graduate studies. Bachelor's degrees are awarded in arts, science, engineering, journalism and social work. Studies leading to doctor of philosophy (Ph.D) degrees are offered in a number of fields. Special programs include the School of Administration, with courses leading to both M.A. and B.A. degrees, graduate diplomas public administration, graduate diplomas in public administration and certificates in public service studies; the Institute of Canadian Studies, also offering M.A. and B.A. degrees, and the Institute of Soviet and East European Studies. Recent additions to the programs offered include the Lester B. Pearson Chair for International Affairs, instituted in 1975, a joint program with the University of Ottawa School in Public Policy and Management, and the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs.
