Fonds consists of two radio interviews with Gus D'Aoust, a retired professional barrenland trapper, who describes his career in the Northwest Territories from the 1920s to the 1970s. The interviews were broadcast on CKDM-AM, a Dauphin, Manitoba radio station.

D'Aoust, Gus, 1896- : Gus D'Aoust was born in 1896. From the 1920s to the 1970s he was a professional barrenland trapper who worked in the vicinity of Fort Reliance and Great Slave Lake, Northwest Territories. As of 1982 D'Aoust was in retirement.

Material was acquired in 1990 from Jim Robinson of Ottawa, Ontario, on behalf of Hazel D. Robinson of Regina, Saskatchewan.
A biography of Gus D'Aoust was written and published by Alix Harpelle (St. Pierre, Manitoba) in 1984. The book is entitled Those were the days that I lived and loved.
