The personal material series contains biographical material; personal and professional correspondence organized by correspondent or year; files relating to his donations to cultural institutions; clippings about himself and others; records relating to his wives Florentine St. Clair Sherman, Patricia Lemoine FitzGerald and Marita LaFlèche; files concerning his employment with Transportes Aereos Centro-Americanos (TACA) and Humber College; and documents pertaining to his friendship with Sir William Stephenson. The correspondence includes letters from his sister-in-law, dancer and author Jane Sherman Lehac, the journalist Eric Gibbs and wife Inez Gibbs, fellow Rhodes Scholar J. B. Allan Seager, and letters pertaining to his early newspaper days in London and Toronto. The series holds a trip diary of his travels in the Orient in 1982. The Sir William Stephenson files contain greeting cards, cables, clippings, and notes of telephone conversations, including a description of Stephenson's reaction to David Stafford's book "Camp X".

The series holds extensive documentation of Morrison's donations of art, rare books, and manuscripts to institutions like the University of Alberta, Oxford University, and Dalhousie University. It is particularly rich for his donation of the L. Lemoine FitzGerald collection to the Winnipeg Art Gallery and the School of Art at the University of Manitoba. A photocopy of the scrapbook of journalist and author Charles Vining, which forms a kind of autobiography of Vining's life, is a significant item. The series also holds a signed first edition of E. J. Pratt's "Dunkirk" (Toronto: Macmillan, 1941), and a signed portrait of Sir William Stephenson. In addition, there is an extensive selection of personal photographs, including prints and photo postcards of his travels in the Soviet Union and Switzerland in the early 1930s.
