British Transport Films : British Transport Films (BTF) was established in May 1949 as the result of an amalgamation between two existing film units of major railway companies. Carrying on the work of the film units, the BTF produced promotional travelogue films that advertised destinations, rail and associated transport, and the nationalized transport workforce. The founder and first producer in charge of the BTF was Edgar Anstey, a protégé of documentary filmmaker John Grierson. The BTF, which operated until 1986, became one of Britain's most productive industrial film units. British Transport Films website. 8 May 2002. 206917

Custodial history:

This collection was part of the Canadian Film Institute's (CFI) transfer to the National Archives of Canada, on 12 May 1975. The CFI received the material from British Transport Films in 1966/1967.
