Fisher, John : John Wiggins Fisher was born in Sackville, New Brunswick in 1913. Fisher was a lawyer, reporter, broadcaster, author and civil servant. Between 1943 and 1955 he worked as a roving reporter across Canada. His findings were aired on John Fisher reports, a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation radio program. In 1956 he was named Executive Director of the Canadian Tourism Association, and in 1961 was appointed Special Assistant to Prime Minister Diefenbaker. In 1963 he became Commissioner of the National Centennial Administration. Thereafter, he established his own public relations firm. Fisher was married to Helen Audrey Paynter in the late 1930s. Together they had one child, John Frederick David Fisher. Fisher died in February 1981 and is buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto, Ontario. Leard, Susan L.C.
