The Atomic Energy Control Board was created in 1946 to aid the Canadian government in the "control and supervision of the development, application and use of atomic energy and to enable Canada to participate effectively in measures of international control of atomic energy." At that time, the regulation activities of the Board consisted of the research sector of the National Research Council and the uranium mining and refining operations of Eldorado.

Sub-series consists of files transferred to Eldorado (and related to their operations) from the Atomic Energy Control Board. These files were originally part of the Board's file classification system, and relate to administration, contracts and agreements, etc
