The series documents Sarah Gersovitz's career as a playwright. Included is correspondence with various theatres about Gersovitz's plays, including letters from Urjo Kareda at Tarragon and Martha Henry at Theatre London, and a reader's report by playwright John Herbert. There is also correspondence documenting Gersovitz's entries in various playwriting competitions, with both Canadian and American readers' reports; correspondence with Robert Weaver of the CBC's literary competition includes a typescript of a short story by Gersovitz. There is a file on the Ottawa Little Theatre's national playwriting competitions. A file of correspondence with Gilda Anderson (Maxwell Anderson's widow), regarding Gersovitz's plays being performed at the Maxwell Anderson Playwrights Series in Greenwich, Connecticut, includes a letter from actress Jessica Tandy. Other correspondence documents the publication of one of Gersovitz's plays in an American anthology. The files include copies of reviews of the plays. There are scripts of eleven plays, with variant versions of three documenting different productions. A small amount of material received in 2006 added a final script of the play "Survey Show". The photographs are colour snapshots of a Canadian production of plays.

The series also includes a sub-series, consisting of records relating to Sarah Gersovitz's brother, the actor Henry Gamer.
