Sub-series consists of correspondence which highlights important issues of the day. Canadians' concerns and NDP responses to and policies on these concerns - can be located under the usual social policy rubrics (pensions, health and welfare, women's issues, human rights and so on). This sub-series, however, contains notable files under two new rubrics. Under "Miscellaneous" there are files with correspondence on human rights, direct democracy, bilingualism, inflation/national debt/economy, labour and employment, general Canadian situation, and other politicians. The correspondents range from across all of Canada, and from abroad as well, commenting on very many issues of significance of the day. The same observations hold true for "Regular Correspondents", the correspondence of persons who wrote Mr. Broadbent 3-4 times a year, addressing issues such as External Affairs, the environment and Canadian politics.
