Fonds consists of programs and speeches that were produced or broadcast by CKY. These are mostly political talks from provincial, national and international politicians. A notable exception is a series of programs called Manitoba impressions, which was recorded in 1940 and gives a description of various regions and communities of Manitoba.

CKY (Radio Station : Winnipeg) : The Manitoba Telephone System was authorized to operate CKY in 1923, and on 13 March 1923 CKY radio broadcast its first program from its Manitoba station. The program schedule included news, sports, and market reports (farm), with an hour of sacred music on Sunday. In 1948 the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation purchased CKY from the Manitoba Telephone System. The call letters were changed to CBW. The call sign was reestablished in 1949 when Lloyd Moffat was awarded a Winnipeg license, and granted the right to use the CKY call sign for this new station. "Early Wireless and Radio in Manitoba."
