Collection consists of sound recordings including radio programs and series entitled J. Arthur Rank organization presents; Film time; Movie scene; The stars look back; Picture parade; and others, all produced and broadcast by the BBC or the CBC. Also included is an assortment of interviews, commentaries, reports from film festivals, news conferences, lectures, and advertisements from Canadian and American films, speeches, and sound tracks for a variety of films, 1919-1984.

Collection also includes silent and sound films consisting of numerous fiction features, documentaries, news clips, out-takes, amateur productions, trailers and promotional film mcovering a wide variety of subjects. Touched upon are sports, war, travel, agriculture, arts and music, politics, biographies, urbanization, wildlife, scientific research and movie production, 1910-1970s. Collection includes: two titles from the Canadian cameos, a series of short vignettes on different aspects of Canadian life; I love Lucy; Music album; News parade; Our gang; Pictoreel sportscope; Sports parade; The world in action; and The world today. Also included are miscellaneous newsreel items from Canadian movietone news and a Paramount news special on the Moose River mine disaster (1936).

Also consists of the film KNIGHTS OF THE ROUND TABLE, MGM's first Cinemascope film.

Ontario Film Institute : The Ontario Film Institute (O.F.I.) was founded in 1969 to encourage the foster public appreciation and study of film history. The Institute came into being through the interest and concern of the Hon. James Auld, Minister of Tourism and Information, and Gerald Pratley, a film scholar and lecturer originally from England. Pratley acted as director of the Institute from 1969 to 1990. The O.F.I. is financed through the Science Centre by the Ministry of Culture and Recreation of the Province of Ontario. It has three divisions: the Institute itself which is the reference and information centre, the Ontario Film Theatre (482 seats) and the Ontario Film Archive. The Film Reference Library assumed operation of the O.F.I. in 1990, and was thereafter renamed the Cinematheque of Ontario. A/V Section collection files.
