Fonds consists of a documentary film directed and produced by Reverend S.P. Hettasch. The film records the environment and way of life of the Inuit people in Labrador as they adapt to the world of the Moravian mission. The film was shot before and after Inuit villages were forcefully relocated on orders from the provincial government. Footage records life in native communities in Northern Labrador coastal villages including Hebron, Nutak, Nain and Hopedale from the early 1940s onward. Also included is a video transcript of film footage with an oral description given by Reverend Hettasch. In addition, fonds includes a sound track for the introduction to film material on the history of the Moravian missions in Labrador.

Hettasch, S. P : Reverend Hettasch (fl. 1940-1990), Moravian minister, served native communities in the Labrador region for 42 years. Hettasch was also an amateur filmmaker who recorded the life and experiences of the Inuit people to whom he ministered.
