The fonds consists of correspondence, minutes, reports, scrapbooks, photographs, records related to national and international tournaments, administering the C.W.F.H.A., and its relationships with its provincial counterparts and organizations such as the Canadian Field Hockey Council, and the International Federation of Women's Hockey Associations.

The fonds also includes film footage of a women's field hockey game between Canada and England in Toronto and a film entitled Coaching certification.

Canadian Women's Field Hockey Association : The modern form of field hockey was first played in British Columbia. In 1896, the first recorded match in Canada was played by Vancouver girls, and the Vancouver Ladies Club was formed. The first women's organization in Canada was formed in Vancouver in 1927. By 1959 the game was being played in the Maritimes, Ontario and Alberta. The Canadian women's team participated in the women's international tournament for the first time in 1956, and in 1979 Canada hosted 18 countries in Vancouver for that world event. The 1980 Olympics were the first Games to recognize women's field hockey as a medal sport.

The Canadian Women's Field Hockey Association was founded in 1962, a year after the Canadian (men's) Field Hockey Association. Both associations were part of the Canadian Field Hockey Council. The purpose of the C.W.F.H.A. was to promote, and to further the best interests of, field hockey for women and girls throughout Canada. The C.W.F.H.A. was also a full member of the International Federation of Women's Hockey Associations, and an associate member of the All England Women's Hockey Association. In 1992, the C.W.F.H.A. and the C.F.H.A. merged to form Field Hockey Canada.
