The station was originally owned by the E. L. Bushnell Television Company which was controlled by Ernest L. Bushnell. Original shareholders included NTA Telefilm Canada and Granada TV Ltd. of Great Britain. CJOH-TV introduced the CTV National News in November 1962, with Peter Jennings in Ottawa and Harvey Kirk in Toronto. In 1963, the station added channel 8 in Cornwall and in 1972, channel 6 at Deseronto. In 1967, CJOH-TV added colour facilities, and a mobile colour production unit, the first of its kind in Canada. The Company went public in July 1969, changing its name to Bushnell Communications Ltd. and over the next few years bought Telecable Laurentien Inc. Hull, Rockland Cable TV, Yorkville Studio Centre in Toronto and an interest in Skyline Cable in Ottawa. On April 28, 1975, Standard Broadcasting Corporation Ltd. of Toronto, acquired control of the firm, after having purchased a large block of shares from WIC Western Broadcasting Co. Ltd. of Vancouver. During the next few years, Standard acquired all the remaining shares of Bushnell from the minority shareholders. In 1985, Slaight Communications purchased Standard Broadcasting from Argus Corporation. Alan Slaight subsequently sold the CJOH-TV component to Baton Broadcasting in 1988. The cable television and Yorkville Studio assets remained with Standard. BBS/CJOH-TV continued as the CTV affiliate in the nation's capital. 3003312 3003313Additional information:General note:Received between 1976 and 1991.Source:Private -
