Fonds consists of moving images and sound recordings produced by Andrew MacLean in association with The News Mirror, Canada's first photo-illustrated newspaper of which MacLean was publisher and editor. Included in the fonds are MacLean family home movies; footage of Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks visiting Toronto; the Alpha Delta Phi Convention in Toronto; promotional material for the Toronto News Mirror contest winner of an MG sportscar; and an incomplete version of the Ford Sterling fiction feature film Love and vengeance.

Fonds also consists of sound recordings from the BBC of the 1932 Imperial Economic Conference in Ottawa, with excerpts of speeches of leaders from Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, India and Rhodesia. Included are comments on broadcast by BBC and CNR officials.

MacLean, Andrew D : Andrew D. MacLean was publisher and editor of Canada's first photo-illustrated newspaper, The News Mirror (Toronto). MacLean also edited and managed various publications including the Canadian Magazine (MacLean's), MacLean Publishing Company, and was President of MacLean Publications, Toronto. He served as Secretary to Prime Minister R.B. Bennett from 1932 to 1934, and was active in both World War I and World War II. MacLean was also instrumental in the reorganization of the Royal Canadian Navy.
