Razutis, Al : Al Razutis was born 28 April 1946 in Bamberg, Germany. He was educated at California Western University and the University of California. Razutis began his career as an independent experimental film and video producer in 1967. In addition to directing and producing film and video, Razutis' experience extends to screenwriting, cinematography, lighting, editing, research and development in the areas of film optical printing, stereo 3-D cinematography, video-synthesizer, laser and holographic systems and holographic art. In 1972 Zalutis founded Visual Alchemy Inc., a multi-media laboratory facility dedicated to the development of film, video and holographic imaging processes. In 1977 he pursued a writing career that resulted in the creation several works including the unpublished novel Ilium : express. In 1978 he was appointed head of the film-video program at Simon Fraser University, acting in this position until 1987. More recently, Razutis has been involved in the creation of stereoscopic 3D video, and web-based virtual reality. In 1997, he created the multi-media web-site Visual Alchemy, the MPEG video gallery Cyber-Theque, and the VRML 2.0 virtual-reality multi-media web-site Uroboros, produced in conjunction with the Banff Center of Media and Visual Arts. As of 2002 Razutis was working in Los Angeles and Saturna, British Columbia focusing primarily on virtual reality and internet-oriented digital imaging, stereoscopic 3D video, documentary video, and holography.
