Cronenberg, David : David Cronenberg has worked in the film industry as a director, writer, actor, editor, cinematographer and producer, specializing in the making of horror and thriller films. He was born on 15 March 1943 in Toronto, Ontario. In 1963, he enrolled as a honours student at the University of Toronto in Science. He dropped out and then switched to honours English and Literature. He discovered his interest in film, making his first film, a fiction short called Transfer, in Toronto in 1966. He wrote the screen play and directed a number of feature films, including The Brood, Scanners, Videodrome, Dead Ringers, Naked lunch, Crash, The Fly, Dead Zone and eXistenZ. Cronenberg's acting credits include roles in the films Nightbreed and Jason X. He began his own production company, David Cronenberg Productions Ltd. in Toronto circa 1972.
