Patrick Watson Enterprises : Patrick Watson Enterprises Ltd., a Canadian film production company, was founded in 1966 by Canadian producer and host, Patrick Watson. Watson, Patrick, 1929- : Patrick Watson was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1929. He was educated at the University of Toronto, graduating with a Masters of Arts. Thereafter, he studied linguistics at the University of Michigan. Watson began his career in the 1940s as a radio actor. In the 1950s he joined CBC-TV, first as a free lancer in 1955, as producer for the series Close-up from 1957 to 1960, and then as producer and director of the national affairs series, Inquiry, from 1960 to 1964. In addition to founding Patrick Watson Enterprises Ltd., Watson co-founded Immedia Inc. in 1967. During the 1970s he helped to pioneer the CBS Cable Television Network. In 1989 he was named the chair of the CBC Board of Directors, resigning from this position in June of 1994. Watson is the recipient of the Order of Canada for his journalistic efforts, and has received numerous awards for his work in the development of Canadian television, including the 1984 Bruxelles Festival Award, twelve Junos, and two ACTRA Awards.
