Collection consists several films which document a variety of topics including: the 1955-1958 Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition; the history of Seagram's; the 1947 and 1948 Canadian Open; the history of Crawley Films; and dances of the 1940s. Also included are two animated children's films entitled Bear trouble (1964) and Yellow pinkie (1965), twelve musical shorts entitled Say si si (1941); Love turns winter to spring (1941); Sing sing sing (1944); So you're the one (1941); The one I love belongs to somebody else (1941); My reverie (1943); The long and short of it (1943); Frenesi (1941); He's funny that way (1946); Two guitars and dark eyes (1941); Hungarian dance (1941); and When a gypsy makes his violin cry (1941), and two instructional films entitled Time recorded in images (1988); and Parade (1990). In addition, fonds includes an episode from the series The Gen entitled Number 15 (RAF voices of the service) (ca. 1945); an excerpt from the film Bloomer girl (ca. 1940); and Toronto Argonauts vs. Ottawa Roughriders (1961), a film showing the strategy of the game.

O'Farrell, William A, 1929-2007 : William Allan O'Farrell (II) was born 7 December 1929 in Ottawa, Ontario. He began his career with Crawley Films in 1948 as a delivery truck driver, quickly moving into technical laboratory work, processing, and printing. In 1961 he became manager of the Crawley-owned film laboratory Graphic Labs. In the 1950's he began assisting on production, notably for the Seagram Distillers-sponsored Canadian Open series of films, where he frequently served as second-unit director, determining the golf action in cameras mounted in jeeps following tournament leaders. By 1970 he had become an executive director and vice-president of the company. In approximately 1972 he negotiated the purchase by Crawley's of the Japanese film Everest Symphony and related production elements, which Crawley reedited into The Man Who Skied Down Everest - the first Canadian feature to win an Oscar (feature documentary category). He has served as an appraiser of motion pictures, videos and sound recordings for the National Archival Appraisal Board since its establishment in 1980. He currently has 22 years experience, and is the longest serving expert in AV appraisal in Canada. Over the past several years his video-post production work has taken place out of the company General Assembly. O'Farrell represents the Crawley Films collection held at National Archives of Canada for copyright and access requests. In the mid 1990's he won the F.R. Budge Crawley lifetime achievement award. William Allan O'Farrell died 27 September 2007 at the age of 77.
