Beachell, Chester E : Chester E. Beachell (fl. 1944-1973), was an audio engineer whose career in radio led him to various Canadian radio stations, the Radio Bureau and the National Film Board of Canada. In 1955 Beachell developed the portable Sprocketape sound recorder using quarter-inch perforated tape. Beachell's invention was used while shooting such leading television series of the time as On the spot and Perspective. "History of the NFB: The 1950s."
