Broadcast News Limited : Broadcast News Limited, a Toronto-based company, was established in January 1954 to serve as a clearing house for news-copy for private broadcasters. A wholly-owned subsidiary organization of the Canadian Press, Broadcast News also uses AP, Reuters, and Agence France Presse as its sources. All news is rewritten in a broadcast style and subscribed to by virtually all radio stations across the country. In the early 1960s Broadcast News established audio service for radio stations to complement its print material and CFRB in Toronto became the sending and receiving arm of the audio news service, designated Broadcast News Voice. Broadcast News operates in English and French, supplying written reports for hundreds of TV and radio stations as well as newscasts and programming, from business reports to weather forecasts to Hollywood gossip.
