Public Archives of Nova Scotia : The Public Archives of Nova Scotia came into being as a result of a resolution passed by the Nova Scotia House of Assembly on 30 April 1857. The intent of the resolution was to establish an institution that would provide for the "examination, preservation and arrangement of the records and documents that illustrate the history and progress of society in the province". In 1996 the Nova Scotia Records Management was combined with the Public Archives of Nova Scotia and in 1997, the new organization was renamed the Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management. Canada.
