Van de Water, Anton, 1917- : Anton Van de Water was born in the Netherlands in 1917. He attended several elementary schools in various countries, thus becoming fluent a number of languages. After college, he studied literature and agriculture. During World War II Van de Water joined the underground movement, working to save people from concentration camps. Following the war, he went to Indonesia to produce films for the Dutch government. After three years and many film productions, he returned to Amsterdam and worked as a film specialist, supervising the exchange of cultural events around the world. Soon after he left for North America, spending the next 50 years in Quebec. He organized his own production company, opened a recording studio and made films for Canadian institutions, among which were: The National Film Board, The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, The Quebec Government, as well as numerous, smaller, private organizations. He continued to write and wrote numerous screenplays including: The right to kill, Funny money, Free fall, The abductors, Cup of youth, High tide; and for children: The magic balloon with Snorky and Cyrus, It's friendship that counts, The boy and the crow, Tuck the Eskimo, and Uncle Dutch.
