Sub-sub-series consists of files of the Alberta NewStart Corporation. The sub-sub-series includes operational files (1968-1972), correspondence files dealing both with community counselling (1968-1971) and with program development (1969-1971) as well as the files of the Secretary Treasurer (Mr. Booth) and the Executive Director (Mr. J.W. Shields). There are also documents from Pe-ta-Pun, a private native-run development corporation, which carried on some Alberta NewStart programs for a year after the project formally ceased operation. These files did not follow any corporate filing system.

Alberta NewStart Inc : The Alberta NewStart Corporation was an autonomous corporation established in 1967. Reporting initially to the Pilot Projects Branch of the Department of Labour, and, after 1969, to the Social and Human Analysis Branch of the Department of Regional Economic Expansion (DREE), the corporation administered and applied Canada NewStart Programs to motivate and train disadvantaged adults for full-time employment.
