Series consists of files created in the office of the Deputy Minister of Reconstruction and Supply. Subjects include Cabinet conclusions and directives including the post-war military occupation of Europe, demobilisation, credit and reparations agreements with allied nations; the Cabinet Committee on Economic and Industrial Development and the Cabinet Committee on Reconstruction; the Allied War Supplies Corporation; by-laws of the War Assets Corporation; and provincial development and planning projects. There are also files relating to the purchase of aircraft, guns and ammunition by China, 1946-1947, and Newfoundland's entry into Confederation. Though classified by the Munitions and Supply central registry system, many of these files concern the period after the establishment of the Department of Reconstruction and Supply on the thirtieth of July 1944.

Canada. Dept. of Reconstruction and Supply. Deputy Minister's Office : The Deputy Minister's Office was the senior administrative centre in the Department of Reconstruction and Supply to which all other branches and divisions in the department report. In any government department the deputy minister acts as head of the department funnelling advice to the minister and ensuring that the department implements the pieces of legislation entrusted by Parliament to the department. The deputy minister was also responsible for the preparation of the department's annual report and for its presentation to Parliament.

The Deputy Ministers of Reconstruction were Robert Alexander Cecil Henry, October 1944 - October 1945 and Vincent William Thomas Scully, October-December 1945. The Deputy Ministers of Reconstruction and Supply were V.W. Scully, December 1945 - January 1948; Commander (Ret'd.) Charles Peter Edwards, January-May 1948; Maxwell Weir "Max" MacKenzie, May 1948 - February 1949; and Marc Boyer, February 1949 - January 1950. RG28 General Inventory
