General note:

Accession consists of 98 folders containing technical data and correspondence relating to the various phases in the production of the maps and 97 envelopes containing the maps themselves. The files are numbered MS1 to MS97.
These maps illustrate the topographical aspect of the Columbia River project, which was a joint Canadian-American effort to harness the Columbia and Fraser rivers for hydro-electric power and to determine whether more extensive development of the resources of the Columbia River Basin was possible and was in the public interest.
These maps are final drawings with corrections which mainly concern the toponymy of the area. They also constitute a complete topographical record of the entire region surrounding the Columbia River.

Custodial history:

Transferred to the Public Archives of Canada from the Map Compilation and Reproduction Division of the Dept. of Mines and Technical Surveys in 1969.
