Series consists of records relating to the arbitration proceedings initiated by an Act of Parliament in 1891 (Chap. 6, 54-55 Victoria) for the settlement of the financial claims of Ontario, Quebec and the Dominion resulting from the absorption of the Province of Canada by the Dominion in 1867. The records contain arbitration proceedings (Vols. 972-976) and statements of claims and supporting documents (Vols. 977-986). The arbitrators generally had to deal with one of these three types of claims: interest charged on accounts between the governments concerned; common school fund claims; and Indian claims.
