This series contains records related to a Canadian conference on the family held at Carleton University, Ottawa, 7-10 June 1964 under the patronage of Governor-General Georges P. Vanier and Madame Pauline Vanier. The result of this conference was the creation of a permanent organization devoted to research on the family in Canada and the Vanier Institute of the Family was incorporated in April 1965. This series includes ten (10) sub-series on various aspects of the Canadian conference on the family, including: administration, national council, executive committee, sub-committees, studies and bibliography, participants, correspondence with organizations and individuals, miscellaneous records, proceedings and scrapbooks of news clippings. The scrapbooks were borrowed from the Institute for microfilming and then returned. See individual sub-series descriptions for further information on their contents.
