General note:

The accession consists of a collection of eight (8) editorial cartoons by the late Allan (Al) Beaton (1923-1967), created for publication in "The Toronto Telegram". Subject matter includes: the development of expressways and highways in Metro Toronto and an increasing number of automobile related fatalities (1964?); John Diefenbaker offers a more effective means of cleaning up Government (1963?); the controversy over Harvard Professor Timothy Leary, guru of LSD, being given permission to enter Canada (mid-1960's); Lester Pearson's concerns over his continued leadership of the Liberal Party, in anticipation of the removal of John Diefenbaker as leader of the Progressive Conservative Party (1967?); Canada's political ties to Great Britain (1967?); the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party under John P. Robarts re-elected (1967?); the client base of the Salvation Army (mid-1960's); the lot of the Canadian taxpayer versus the lot of the American taxpayer (1963?).
