General note:

The accession comprises a copy of the script for the 1940 Paramount Pictures film 'North West Mounted Police' (variously titled 'Northwest Mounted Police', 'The Royal Canadian Mounted' and 'The Scarlet Riders'), directed by Cecil B. DeMille. The film was set in Canada during the North West Rebellion of 1885, featured Louis Riel as a character, and starred Gary Cooper and Paulette Goddard. The screenplay was written by Jesse Lasky Jr., adapted from the novel, 'Royal Canadian Mounted Police' by R.C. Fetherstonhaugh. The title page of this copy of the script is annotated with the autographs of cast members including Gary Cooper, Madeleine Carroll, Paulette Goddard and Robert Preston, and its director Cecil. B. DeMille.
