The fonds consists of microfilmed selections from the papers of Lord North, 2nd Earl of Guilford. Included are: accounts of goods, produce and manufactures of Great Britain and Ireland, imported into several ports on the continent of North America, Newfoundland, etc; accounts of foreign goods imported into several ports on the Continent of North America; accounts of vessels that have entered inwards in the several ports under American Commission; accounts of imports into ports from British and Foreign West Indies; accounts of exports to Great Britain and Ireland, as well as southern ports in Europe; accounts of exports, foreign goods and merchandise. This material is located on microfilm reels A-1719 and A-1720.

North, Frederick, Earl of Guilford, 1732-1792 : British statesman.

Lord North was elected to the British House of Commons in 1754. He supported the retention of the American tea duty, which rendered war inevitable with the American colonies. North was appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1767, and First Lord of the Treasury in 1770, as well as serving as Prime Minister. The Dictionary of National Biography
