General note:

The records in this accession were transferred to the National Archives from the Directorate of History and Heritage, Department of National Defence. These records document many aspects of Army research. Some of these were originally prepared by the British Ministry of Supply, while the bulk of this accession was created by the Canadian Directorates of Interservice Research and Development, Chemical Warfare, Engineering Development, Medical Services, Artillery and the Army Technical Development Board. These files document research into many types of weapons, armament and protective equipment.
