Collection consists of photographs depicting the early days of the Parliament Buildings, Ottawa. Included are shots of the Parliament Centre Block with board fence in foreground and single board walk running up hill; Parliament West Block showing board fence in foreground; and Rideau Canal locks with East Block in background. Photos possibly by Elihu Spencer.

Armstrong, Hugh Beverley, 1914-1993 : Hugh Beverley Armstrong was born in 1914, Rothesay, New Brunswick, to Beverley Robinson Armstrong (1875-1945) and Wenefrede Armstrong (née Lloyd-Jones). Hugh attended Royal Military College between 1931 and 1935. During WWII, Hugh and his brother David served with the New Brunswick 3rd Field Artillery Regiment (The Loyal Company), the oldest artillery unit in Canada. This was the same unit to which their Father and Grandfather, John Russell Armstrong (1848-1925), had served. Hugh was married to Elizabeth G. Armstrong. He died in 1993.
