Series consists of photographs which can be largely separated into the following sections: John Morris' amateur work; his professional work, and other material which includes his Royal Canadian Air Force work, and some material from other photographers including A.T. Roberts, E. Hoch.
His amateur work includes salon prints, ca. 1925-1940, animals, clouds, sports, a streetscene in Montreal, landscape and a snow scene. Morris' professional work includes work for various Hamilton, Ontario based companies in the 1950's and consists of photographs of kitchen ranges and stoves in use or prepared for advertising purposes, toasters, irons, waffle-irons both in use and disassembled, television cabinets, parts, radios, and hospital furnishings. There are also photographs showing the interior and exterior of stores, manufacturing concerns, and plants; these shots show many of the products produced by these businesses and range from machinery to consumer and canned goods. Catalogue and advertising work for STELCO and Westinghouse, Hamilton, Ontario are also included in the fonds, as well as photographs from the Caribbean in the 1970's. The fonds contains Kodachrome colour transparencies of the Royal Tour, 1939; and colour transparencies of various activities of the RCAF, ca. 1941, including photos of aircraft and aircrew, installations, planes in flight, and training classes.
In addition, the series contains genre and landscape studies by John Morris, evidently carried out as experiments; a family portrait, ca. 1940, taken in a mirror, and three copper printing plates of Morris' various award winning salon prints, 1925-1940. The fonds contains copies of three photographs: a self-portrait (probable), ca. 1930 of Morris; a portrait, ca. 1930 of Morris, probably by Charles Glassney of the Toronto Camera Club; and John Morris receiving Ansco Canada Award from the Commercial and Press Photographers Association of Canada for the best industrial photograph, 1955, Bochsler Studios, Hamilton.
